ELEANOR MAY (DAVIS) SOLOMON
Wife of the late George; beloved mother of Vanessa (Eugene) Ryzner, Vernadean (William) Passodelis, George (Sandi) and Mark (Roberta) Solomon; devoted grandmother of Jared (Nicole) Ryzner, Andrew (Sara) Ryzner, Christopher Passodelis, II, William (Kellie) Passodelis, Jr., Nicole Solomon and Katina (Chris) Fanelli; great-grandmother of Jameson and Emerson Ryzner. Eleanor grew up on a farm in Grindstone, PA, the daughter of Herbert and Edith McCormick Davis. Affectionately named "Tootie" by her family, she was the second eldest of ten siblings. She was the sister of Vernadean "Tizzie" Aloia, Sharon "Katie" D'Aleo, Howard "Wez" Davis, and the late Mildred, Herbert "Socco", Margaret "Peg", Robert, Dorothy and Ellwood.
Fiercely independent to the end, it was that spirit and her dream of seeing more of the world that lead Eleanor to move to Pittsburgh where she met the love of her life, her husband of 51 years, George Solomon, who predeceased her in 2003. Eleanor trained in New York City in jewelry and watch repair, and worked in the Clark Building for many years. She was an active volunteer and member of the Christian Mothers Guild of Resurrection Church in Brookline, where she had many cherished friends.
Friends will be received at Frank F. DeBor Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, March 7, from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon in the Church of the Resurrection (Brookline).
Memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Homes Foundation (please reference Baptist Homes Memory Support Unit), 489 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
